Technological Process and Characteristics of Aluminum Alloy Die Casting
Aluminum alloy die casting is a precision manufacturing process. Under high pressure and high speed, molten aluminum is injected into the mold cavity and cooled rapidly. It is widely used in auto parts, electromechanical housings, new energy components and other industries. With highly standardized procedures and fast forming speed, this process is ideal for mass production of parts.
The complete technological process consists of five main steps. First is material smelting. Aluminum ingots are melted in a furnace, alloy composition is adjusted, and the metal is heated to the proper melting temperature. Impurities and gas are removed to ensure the purity of molten aluminum. Second is mold preparation. The die is preheated and sprayed with release agent to prevent sticking. Mold temperature is strictly controlled to avoid cracks on castings.

The third step is high-pressure die casting. The injection mechanism of the die-casting machine forces molten aluminum to fill the closed mold cavity at high speed, ensuring complete part profiles. Next comes cooling and solidification. The mold dissipates heat quickly so that the aluminum alloy solidifies and maintains stable dimensions. Finally, the mold opens and ejects the finished casting. Gates and runners are trimmed to obtain semi-finished blanks.
This technology has obvious advantages. It enables one-step forming. Complex structures and thin-wall shells can be cast integrally without welding and assembly, greatly raising production efficiency. The castings feature high dimensional accuracy and smooth surface with little machining allowance to meet tolerance requirements of precision parts.
High-pressure forming improves density and mechanical strength. However, high-speed filling tends to trap air and cause porosity. It is necessary to control injection speed, venting structure and gas content in molten aluminum.
In summary, aluminum alloy die casting balances precision, structural strength and mass productivity. As a mature forming method for lightweight metal parts, it well meets the large-scale manufacturing demands of industrial components.
