Must-See for Beginners: Basic Knowledge and Production Practical Points of Aluminum Die Casting

Aluminum die casting is an efficient metal forming process. With the advantages of fast forming speed, high precision and low cost, it has become the core method for producing parts in automotive, electronics, new energy and other industries. For beginners, mastering its basic knowledge and practical operation points is the key to getting started quickly, avoiding production mistakes and ensuring product quality. Combining with practical operation scenarios, this article sorts out the core content to help beginners get started quickly.

In terms of basic knowledge, the core of aluminum die casting is to quickly inject molten aluminum alloy liquid into the cavity of a precision mold under high pressure, and obtain formed parts after cooling and solidification. Its core components include three major elements: die casting machine, mold and aluminum alloy material. The die casting machine is responsible for providing high-pressure power, the mold determines the shape and precision of the parts, and the aluminum alloy material needs to select a suitable die casting alloy to ensure fluidity and formability. Beginners need to be clear that aluminum die casting is suitable for mass production of small, complex and thin-walled precision parts, but not for thick-walled and large-volume castings.

Production practical points are the key content that beginners need to master. First, raw material preparation: the aluminum alloy ingots should be dried to remove surface oil and moisture to avoid blowholes during smelting. Second, smelting operation: control the smelting temperature at 650-700℃, add refining agent for degassing to ensure the purity of the alloy liquid. Third, mold operation: the mold should be preheated to 150-250℃ and coated with release agent to prevent the casting from sticking to the mold, and check whether the exhaust system is unobstructed.

In addition, the adjustment of injection parameters should be accurate, and the injection speed and pressure should be controlled to avoid defects such as flash and undercasting. After the casting is taken out, burrs and gates should be cleaned in time to do a good job in post-processing. Beginners must remember that standardized operation, strict control of process parameters, and daily inspection and maintenance of equipment can not only improve production efficiency, but also reduce defects and quickly improve aluminum die casting practical ability.
