The Whole Process from Design to Production
Aluminum die casting is a highly efficient and precise metal forming process that uses aluminum alloy as raw material. Molten metal is injected into the mold cavity under high pressure and high speed, and quickly solidified to form high-precision components. It is widely used in automotive, 3C, machinery, communications and other industries. The entire process, from product design to finished product delivery, is closely linked and directly determines the quality and stability of castings.
The design stage is the foundation of aluminum die casting. Engineers complete 3D modeling according to product functions and structural requirements, focusing on optimizing wall thickness, draft angle, fillets and runner positions to avoid shrinkage porosity and cracks caused by sharp corners and uneven wall thickness. At the same time, simulation analysis is carried out combined with mold strength, cooling system and ejection structure to reduce later mold trial adjustments.
Mold manufacturing is the core link. High-quality mold steel is adopted to produce cavities and cores through CNC machining, precision grinding, EDM and other processes to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish. The mold must reserve shrinkage and be equipped with a reasonable cooling water channel to ensure uniform temperature during production, improving casting consistency and mold life.


The production process is divided into four steps: melting, die casting, cooling and ejection. First, aluminum alloy ingots are heated to a molten state in a furnace, and degassed and slag-removed to improve melt purity. The die casting machine injects molten metal into the mold at high pressure and speed, and maintains pressure for full filling. After rapid cooling and solidification in the mold, the ejection mechanism takes out the casting to complete a single forming.
Post-treatment improves appearance and performance. Common processes include gate and flash trimming, deburring, sandblasting, polishing, anodizing, painting, etc. Some castings also require air tightness testing and full dimensional inspection to ensure no defects such as air holes, cracks or dimensional deviations.
With the advantages of high production efficiency, good dimensional accuracy, excellent surface quality and ability to form complex structures, aluminum die casting has become a key process for lightweight and mass production in modern industry. Strict control of the whole process of design, mold, production and inspection is the only way to stably output high-quality aluminum die castings.
